Quartzite is a metamorphic rock formed when quartz-rich sandstone is exposed to high temperatures and pressures over time. The result is an incredibly strong, beautiful stone with patterns and hues that can range from subtle whites and grays to vibrant blues or greens.

The natural quartzite has exceptional strength and is a very durable stone.

Durability and Resilience

Here are the details of its key characteristics:

Heat Resistance:

Quartzite is heat resistant. This means it won’t easily burn, melt, or discolor when exposed to high temperatures.

For instance, placing hot pans or hot pots directly on a quartzite countertop won’t result in damage, which is so important for countertop surface for busy outdoor kitchen.

Scratch Resistance:

Another beneficial characteristic of quartzite is its high scratch resistance. Thanks to its hardness (being even harder than outdoor granite countertops), it can withstand daily wear and tear without showing scratches.

This makes it ideal for high-traffic areas and surfaces that undergo constant use.

High Resistance to Acidic Foods:

Quartzite also stands out for its resistance to acidic substances.

This means it is less likely to etch or corrode when exposed to acidic foods and beverages, such as lemon juice, vinegar, tomatoes, or wine.

As such, quartzite countertops are a good choice for kitchens where these substances are commonly used.

One of the benefit of Quartzite is its impressive  resistance to various elements when installed in a outdoor setting, specifically direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

UV Resistance:

One of the most notable properties of quartzite is its UV resistance.

Unlike some other materials, quartzite does not fade or discolor when exposed to the harmful UV rays of the sun over a prolonged period.

This makes it a great option for outdoor installations such as kitchen outdoor countertops, patios, garden paths, or exterior wall claddings.

Resistance to Extreme Temperatures: Quartzite also has a high resistance to extreme temperatures.

It can withstand both very hot and very cold climates without cracking or deteriorating.

This attribute enables it to perform well in diverse climates, from hot desert regions with intense heat to cold, frosty environments.

Since quartzite has a high density and low porosity, it can effectively resist the damaging effects of the freeze-thaw cycle.
